Brief Overview

The Y Combinator product team are looking to improve two business metrics: article clicks per session and time spent on site, while making the site visually stunning. Design a new homepage for the site, annotate what works and what doesn’t, what you have changed and why.




I started my process with the collection of all listed business goals and launched a top-level review to list a few points where some improvements to the site could be made.

This research provided some guidance during the creative and decision making process, prior to finalize a high level design in Sketch.

How could we improve it?

I started by looking through the existing site and performed a design audit. Looking at the where content lives, how information is presented to users, as well as other heuristics.

Bases on existing site, the areas where I focused to improve the page included: navigation, information architecture, layout and accessibility of content.

In order to understand my targeted users, I’ve started reading some discussions in the community discovering further insights on how people feel about the site.
